Hello, I'm Ara
I am a software developer with experience and interest in art and culture. I am currently based in New York City, but I have also lived in Seoul, Moscow, and Chicago. Creating things from scratch is my passion. Drawing and painting are my default languages to communicate with others and coding is my act of creation. For me, coding is an exciting and modern tool that allows me to integrate aesthetics into the everyday lives of people and their respective cultures. Because everybody approaches a problem differently, I believe problem-solving is a form of art and a reflection of a person’s personality and drive to serve a defined purpose. This fusion of my passions is what motivates me in my work.
As a full stack software developer, I have extensive experience with React and Redux with JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, HTML5 and CSS3. I have also given lectures on these topics and other technologies including jQuery, Git, RSpec, and SQL as an instructor at App Academy. Integrating my artist career, I am eagerly researching on how to integrate art and technology. My ultimate goal as both a software developer and an artist is to bridge these two genres and make it more accessible to others.
My hobby is writing in Korean. A fun fact about myself is that I have written and published four novels and one essay book as hard copies through official Korean publishers. Additional Skills are Mongoose, MongoDB, Node.js, Express.js, SQLite3, Webpack, jQuery, Git, Heroku, AWS.
